Over 200 Paddlers Take to the Water for Paddle Antrim’s 10th Annual Festival

Last Updated 9/23/2025

Antrim County, MI –  September 2025 – Over 200 paddlers came together for the 10th Annual Paddle Antrim Festival, celebrating the Chain of Lakes Water Trail. This year’s festival saw a 24% increase in participation from recent years.

Paddlers explored the recently designated Pure Michigan Water Trail, with 63 completing the full 42-mile route from Ellsworth to Elk Rapids. Two paddlers have now completed the full distance every year since the festival began in 2015.

“The festival was a true celebration of our waterways and community,” said Deana Jerdee, Executive Director of Paddle Antrim. “We’re grateful to everyone who joined us on the water and helped make this 10th anniversary so special.”

The festival was made possible by top sponsors Short’s Brewing Company and the Great Lakes Sports Commission, along with 22 Wavemakers—local businesses and organizations that provide vital support. A full list of Wavemakers is available at www.paddleantrim.com/wavemakers.

More than 90 volunteers ensured the event ran smoothly. National Honor Society students from local high schools played a key role, including 19 volunteers from Central Lake High School who helped paddlers at Thurston Park. Volunteers assisted with registration, boat moving, on-water support, and shoreline guidance.

Stewardship of local waterways is central to Paddle Antrim’s mission. The Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council ensured that all paddle crafts were washed before entering the Chain of Lakes Water Trail in Ellsworth, helping protect these valuable waters.
