On our Fall visit to the Dewitt Marine, Christine McCool took the time to sit down with the Bellaire Chamber to share some history about the Marina on the mouth of Clam Lake. The marina has been a staple in the community since the late 1940’s. Doug Davis, Christine’s dad, purchased the marina in the late 1970’s and since then there has been various changes to the marina. They are a full-service marina for all your boating needs. They have a passion for boating and the knowledge to guide you in the direction you are inquiring about.
Dewitt Marine offers is a full-service sales and rental department, featuring the best quality Bennington pontoons with enough horsepower to enjoy tubing, water skiing or simply exploring the chain of lakes. The showroom onsite has many new and preowned pontoons for you to choose from. They also have a rental program if you are looking to explore a couple days a year. Their rental boats are introduced brand new each year, giving visitors a great experience on the lake without mechanical issues. You will not want to miss the largest boat show held in Traverse City where Dewitt Marine shows off many new boats and accessories for the upcoming season, along with incentives & specials. Did you know Dewitt offers financing? with a minimum down payment and approved credit, you can arrange credit financing with Dewitt and get out on the water a few hours after picking out your boat. They also offer the ability to customize many of the boat features on any of their sales.
Boat slips are a perfect solution for boat owners interested in convenience and accessibility. Dewitt Marine offers over 200 boat slips available for seasonal rental. If you weren’t lucky enough to get a slip, Dewitt provides boat owners an in and out service allowing a customer to call ahead and request a boat be put into the water for a day or weekend. A valet type service for your boat. This allows a boater to easily get out on the lake to enjoy the day. The marina has enough storage for 700 boats. In case you have not noticed, they are carefully stacked high onto a rack with a forklift. When you store your boat at Dewitt Marine, it is completely kept out of the elements. Both summer and winter storage are available.

The Clam Shack, part of Dewitt Marine, allows you to easily pull into one of the gas docks to fill up. They sell high-quality, ethanol-free gasoline for boats. The store carries all the necessary essentials for going out on the lake, including sunscreen, drinks, snacks, and souvenirs. Oh, and don’t forget the ice cream. (It’s always a treat to the beginning or end of a beautiful day on the water.)
