The Township Ambulance Authority was created in 2003 to provide Ambulance Service to its nine township members (Central Lake, Chestonia, Custer, Forest Home, Helena, Kearney, Mancelona, Star and Warner Townships) all in Antrim County, Michigan.  TAA’s nine member board (one representative from each member township) is responsible for all matters necessary for operation of the ambulance system.

The TAA members service area has a population of 4,395 living on 336.7 square miles, as well as serving adjacent Townships through mutual aid agreements.  The Ambulance staff is made up of 26 licensed paramedics and emergency medical technicians.  There is a staffed primary ambulance in each of of the Authority’s two stations (Bellaire & Mancelona) 24/7, along with a secondary ambulance in each station as staff is available.   In 2020 the system responded to almost 1,800 calls. Of those, 1,200 of them were patient transports.  That amount of activity proves what an essential service this is to our community.

Mobile emergency medical equipment and treatment practices continue to be developed and expanded every day.  The nine member TAA Board has made the commitment to stay abreast of these changes and to provide the best ambulance system warranted in its service area.
