YMCA Camp Hayo-Went-Ha for Boys on Torch Lake
An unequaled camping experience awaits you! At Camp Hayo-Went-Ha, we’ve been providing young men outstanding adventures for 110 years. We are the oldest YMCA boy’s camp on the same site in the world!
Located on 600 acres on the shores of beautiful Torch Lake, YMCA Camp Hayo-Went-Ha has 110 years of tradition and experience to provide incredible adventures campers remember for a lifetime.
Our camp motto, Each for All...All for Each is evident in all we do. The cabin group is the essence of the camping experience. Boys learn to work together, to support each other and to respect what each member of the cabin has to offer. The wonderful variety of camp trips reinforce the value of teamwork.
YMCA Camp Hayo-Went-Ha offers age appropriate adventure programs that last either two or four weeks. Meet the challenge of extended canoeing and hiking trips to Michigan’s north country, the Canadian wilderness or biking the wooded hills of the Upper Peninsula, all the while learning to appreciate the beauty that surrounds you. Live amongst tall pines and white birches, visit Buell Chapel and be a part of the great spirit that makes YMCA Camp Hayo-Went-Ha a special place.
Challenge Courses
We also offer Northern Michigan's premier Challenge Programs. Campers will have the opportunity to climb a 50 foot tower with six routes, a two-story 36 foot high ropes course, a 28 foot pamper pole along with a freestanding zip line and team vertical elements. Our older campers will use the high initiatives course as well. Dozens of personal and group challenges await the boys!
SCUBA
Discover SCUBA lessons are available for every camper. These are run separately from the SCUBA cabin, and allow kids to experience the joy of diving in a safe, fun environment. The first dive will be in a local pool, after which the campers have the opportunity to do an open water dive in Torch Lake! Join PADI Master Dive Instructor Jason Sugar as he teaches young men the joys of breathing underwater. Jason stresses safety first and the joy of learning to dive follows.
