Community Partnerships, Customer Participation Key Aspect of New Green Initiative
Central Lake, Michigan—A new program at Mammoth Distilling is transforming gently used articles of clothing into one-of-a-kind pieces of branded Mammoth gear. As an added dimension to expand the impact of this green initiative, two dollars from the sale of each piece will be donated to Groundwork Center and Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy. Customers and the community are also encouraged to participate on Green Tuesdays at the Traverse City and Bellaire Tasting Room locations where a $10 gift card will be offered for anyone who provides an acceptable item of clothing.
“In this new year, we’re offering a different take on ‘out with the old, in with the new’ and instead are simply making the old new again,” shares Hospitality Manager Stuart Hickman. “The response in our Traverse City tasting room has been overwhelming and we’re really excited to launch this in Bellaire soon too.”
The initiative works by encouraging the community to donate gently used clothing articles to Mammoth, which in turn are cleaned, embroidered with the logo and resold as a one-of-a-kind item of Mammoth swag. Items need to be of quality construction and evaluated for salability by location managers before being accepted. Currently, only shirts (excluding t-shirts) and outerwear will be considered.
“The average American discards more than 80 pounds of clothing every year which seems so unnecessary. Our Green Tuesday events offer a fun and effective way for people pursue an alternative. Every customer who brings an accepted article of clothing to one of our tasting rooms on Tuesdays will be given a $10 Mammoth gift card in exchange,” continues Hickman. “In turn, we’re excited to donate $1 each to both Groundwork Center and Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy for every item we then resell. It’s a great way to partner with our customers and the community in supporting a cause that is important to our company.”
Items are already available for purchase at the Traverse City location; Bellaire will be adding inventory for purchase in February. Both locations will begin Green Tuesday collection events starting on February 4th.
