Baskets have been in existence for thousands of years! They are even older than pottery found by archeologists. The tradition of making a basket has been passed down from generation to generation. Currently, many crafters are attempting to keep basketry alive by teaching others about the skills, techniques, and materials used in making a basket. Members of the Association of Michigan Basketmakers (AMB) are promoting basketry by offering classes at their annual convention. Nearly 160 students and 13 teachers will…
