Bellaire Family Health Center to offer Drive Thru Covid-19 Testing (by appointment)
Bellaire, MI. The East Jordan and Bellaire Family Health Centers continues to work daily to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and are proud of the hard work that our staff has put into protecting our community and developing a plan for future care. Bellaire Family Health Center will be offering Drive-Thru COVID testing based on MDHHS and CDC guidelines and priorities.
In partnership with the Health Department of Northwest Michigan, Bellaire Family Health Center will offer drive thru testing for individuals on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 12 pm – 4 pm. Testing will be available by appointment only and for those have been referred by their primary care provider. Individuals do not need to be a current patient of the Bellaire Family Health Center to receive testing but will need a provider’s order or undergo a pre-screening prior to testing. Appointment scheduling will begin on April 29, 2020.
If you feel you are displaying symptoms or fall within the priority testing regulations, contact the health center’s COVID Drive Thru Testing Line at 231-222-2320 to be pre-screened and/or schedule an appointment.
Testing is performed with a nasopharyngeal swab, which means inserting a long Q-tip into the cavity between the nose and mouth for 15 seconds and rotating the swab several times. The swab is repeated on the other side to make sure there is enough material collected. The swab is then inserted into a container and sent to a lab for testing. The health care provider will contact you with the test results and to explain next steps.
“Testing remains critical to our efforts to slow the spread of the virus,” said Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, MDHHS chief medical executive and chief deputy for health. “Increased testing helps us understand where this disease is so we can identify people at highest risk and make sure we are quickly implementing best practices for preventing further cases and deaths.”
As a reminder, please contact the health center to discuss the need to be seen in person, as we continue to consider our responsibility to protect you and our staff from COVID-19. If you have questions regarding your care or care plan, contact our office to discuss your upcoming appointments and medication refills with the staff or provider.
