PHILADELPHIA, PA – Gloria Klaassen Witt, MD, FAAFP, a physician at Bellaire Family Health Center in Bellaire, MI, has achieved the Degree of Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. AAFP is the national medical association representing nearly 134,600 family medicine physicians, residents and medical students. The degree was conferred to Dr. Witt during a convocation on Friday, September 27th, 2019, in Philadelphia.
“The Degree of Fellow recognizes physicians who have distinguished themselves among their colleagues and are considered champions of family medicine” noted Dr. Laurence Yung, Chief Medical Officer at East Jordan and Bellaire Family Health Centers. “It is our privilege to have Dr. Gloria Witt as a member of our medical staff.”
Criteria for receiving the AAFP Degree of Fellow consists of a minimum of six years of AAFP membership, extensive continuing medical education, participation in public service programs outside of medical practice, participation in original research and service as a teacher of family medicine. The AAFP is the only medical specialty society devoted solely to primary care.
