Alyssa Morizek, granddaughter of Bellaire residents Tom & Jan Showmaker, penned this when she was a 6th grade student in Troy, MI
Whenever I’m feeling sad
Or just need a break
I imagine being in the forest
It’s a relaxing and wonderful place
Where I’m with my family family and friends
Making fun memories
When I’m there
I can hear the bird’s chirps echoing
And see the river gently flowing
I feel calm
Because I never leave the forest
And happy to discover new things
At times, I can hear wild animals
Walking through the trails
Or the wind howling
If I take a deep breath
I sometimes smell
The fresh summer breeze
I know no other place
Like this one
I love Bellaire, Michigan
